Ultrasonic Level Sensor 18.0 ft

The Flowline LU81-5101 is a non-contact ultrasonic transmitter designed for continuous level measurement. It handles corrosive, sticky, waste and ultrapure liquids with a PVDF antenna rated for up to 30 psi and media temperatures between -7 and 140 °F.

Suited for tank monitoring not for tight spaces

This sensor suits operators who need reliable readings on difficult fluids without contacting the media. Buyers who require a smaller dead band than 8 in or a narrower beam than 3 in for confined vessels should look at alternative technologies.

Range 216 in decides fit

The maximum sensing distance of 216 in with an accuracy of .2 percent of range and a spatial resolution of .039 in determines whether the unit covers the required tank height. The 50 kHz operating frequency supports this performance envelope.

Questions about this item

What size NPT fitting and clearance does the 2 3/8 in antenna need for tank mounting?

The sensor uses a 2 in NPT connection; allow at least 3 in clearance for the 8 in dead band and 3 in beam width.

How do I install the 2-wire loop on the LU81-5101 and avoid the 8 in dead band?

Mount the sensor vertically above the liquid, keep the transducer face at least 8 in from the highest level, and wire the two conductors to a 28V DC supply.

When should I replace or clean the PVDF transducer on this 18.0 ft range sensor?

Inspect the PVDF face if readings drift beyond the .2 percent accuracy or after exposure to temperatures above 140 Degrees F.
