Measurement Range Upgrade

The 179 multimeter measures up to 1000 V ac or dc, while the 323 clamp meter handles AC current up to 400 A and voltage up to 600 V. Moving up from basic meters that stop at lower voltages or lack true-rms capability is worthwhile when circuits include non-linear loads or when safety ratings of CAT III 600 V and CAT IV 300 V are required. Technicians who only need occasional voltage checks may not use the full range.
