What this island adds to a kitchen

The Alameda Kitchen Island from FM FURNITURE is a freestanding storage unit designed for compact kitchens. It provides extra countertop area and concealed drawer storage without requiring permanent installation. The multi-colour finish suits modern interiors and the piece can serve as a prep station, casual dining spot or additional work surface.

Included hardware and what it changes

All mounting hardware is supplied in the box, so no separate trips to a hardware store are needed. The three concealed drawers keep utensils and linens out of sight while the open shelves at the end offer quick access to frequently used items. This combination reduces countertop clutter and keeps essential tools within reach during meal preparation.

Assembly practicality and common snags

The unit ships flat-packed and relies on the included hardware for assembly. Its light frame makes it easy to manoeuvre into position before final tightening. The main issues buyers encounter are misaligned drawer slides if panels are not squared during build and occasional loose cam locks that need re-tightening after the first few weeks of use.

Questions about this item

What maintenance will the FM5459MBD's hardware and finish need over time?

The included hardware may need occasional tightening with normal use. Wipe the multi-color finish with a soft, damp cloth and avoid harsh chemicals to preserve the modern look.

Which dimension limits how many people can sit at the 36.2-inch high top?

The 31-inch depth provides the seating footprint; it accommodates two people facing each other comfortably for dining or prep work.

How much heat does the island's surface transfer during all-day cooking sessions?

The wood-based top does not generate heat. It will only reflect warmth from hot cookware placed directly on it, so use trivets for prolonged protection.
