Frostguard FG2-12L 240VAC Heating Cable

This Frostguard FG2-12L is a self-regulating electric heating cable supplied in a 12 ft length with a 6 ft cold lead. It operates on 240V AC at 50 Hz and uses a conductive carbon core inside a rubberised polymer cover. The cable is rated for indoor and outdoor use and requires hardwire installation.

Suited for pipe freeze protection

The self-regulating design adjusts output along the run, delivering 6 W per foot at 40 °F and drawing 0.3 A per cable at that temperature. Maximum circuit length reaches 300 ft. Buyers who need a plug-in connection or a different voltage should look elsewhere.

Self-regulating carbon core at 240V AC

The conductive carbon construction varies heat output automatically with surrounding temperature, removing the need for a separate thermostat. This behaviour decides whether the cable matches the thermal profile of the intended installation.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the 6 W per foot rating actually deliver once the cable is installed?

At 40 °F the cable draws 6 W per foot, producing 6 W of heat per foot along the 12 ft length.

What does the 240 V AC / 50 Hz hardwire connection limit in practice?

The hardwire 240 V AC supply at 50 Hz caps the circuit at 300 ft maximum length and 0.3 A per 12 ft cable.

What clearance or mounting hardware does the 12 ft rubberised-polymer cable need?

The flexible rubberised-polymer jacket allows direct attachment to pipes or surfaces with standard cable ties or tape; no special brackets are required.
