Compact APS-C Power Zoom

The FUJIFILM XC 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS PZ is a retractable standard zoom for X-mount APS-C cameras. Its power zoom mechanism provides electronic focal-length control for smooth transitions during video or stills work. The lens covers a 23-69mm equivalent range, suiting everyday photography from wide scenes to short telephoto. It is built for users who value a lightweight, collapsible optic that stows flat when not in use.

Optical Build and Daily Handling

Three aspherical and two extra-low dispersion elements correct distortion and chromatic aberration across the zoom range. Super EBC coating reduces flare and ghosting to preserve contrast and colour fidelity. Optical image stabilization delivers up to three stops of shake correction for steadier handheld shots at slower shutter speeds. A stepping autofocus motor drives quiet, responsive focus, while the rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces smooth background blur.

Upgrade Path and Limitations

This lens replaces a fixed focal length or basic kit zoom when a single, compact optic must cover wide to portrait perspectives. The variable f/3.5-5.6 aperture limits low-light capability and shallow depth of field compared with constant-aperture alternatives. Photographers needing faster maximum apertures, weather sealing or a longer telephoto reach will require a different lens. The power zoom adds convenience for video but removes the tactile feel of a manual ring.

Questions about this item

Does the X-Mount interface on this 15-45mm lens limit autofocus speed on newer FUJIFILM bodies?

The stepping autofocus motor drives focus smoothly and silently; X-Mount carries the signals without adding a bottleneck.

What physical clearance does the retractable 15-45mm barrel need to extend from its stored position?

The lens is compact and retractable; you unlock the barrel and twist to extend it before shooting, adding only a short length beyond the camera mount.

How do you activate the two-speed power zoom on the XC 15-45mm, and what step do users often skip?

Use the zoom lever on the lens barrel; the camera must be powered on and the lens extended, otherwise the electronic zoom will not respond.
