What it is and who it's for

The G-Mee Play Pro is a 5.5 inch Android 12 smartplayer with 64 GB of internal storage and a 1280 by 720 LCD screen. It runs music and video apps from the Google Play Store and includes parental controls for child-safe use. The device is not a smartphone and has no cellular capability. It suits listeners and viewers who want a dedicated portable media player with app support.

What to check before ordering

The player uses a micro SD card slot for storage expansion beyond the built-in 64 GB. You will need a Wi-Fi connection to download apps, stream content and receive the October 2024 software update that adds Co-Pilot 2.0 features. Battery life reaches up to 12 hours for music or 8 hours for 720p video playback from the 3000 mAh cell. Included headphones use a standard wired connection.

What this replaces and when to upgrade

It replaces a basic MP3 or MP4 player that cannot run streaming apps or offer remote parental management. The jump is worth it when you need Google Play Store access, video streaming in 720p, and the ability to lock or schedule apps remotely via Co-Pilot 2.0. Buyers who need cellular calls, mobile data or a larger screen should look elsewhere.
