Cable Staples for Security and Speaker Wire

Gardner Bender MPS-2080 staples secure 16/2, 16/4 and 18/4 security wire plus 12/2 speaker wire and CAT5e cable. The pack contains 250 pieces made from plastic and steel with a plain finish. They are coloured blue for easy identification on site.

Suited for low-voltage installers and DIY cable runs

Electricians running security, speaker or data cable into wood or metal framing will find the staple size matches common low-voltage gauges. The product is not intended for mains-voltage wiring, conduit systems or cables thicker than the listed types.

250 staples cover multiple rooms or a small project

A single pack handles several security zones or a whole-home speaker installation with headroom to spare. Very large commercial jobs or projects using heavier gauge cable will require additional packs or a different fastener.

Questions about this item

What size hammer or staple gun do I need for these 5/16 in staples?

These 5/16 in staples are designed for hand-driven installation with a standard hammer; no staple gun is required for securing 16/2 security wire or CAT5e cable.

Will the blue plastic insulation damage older 18/4 security wire jackets when stapled to wood?

The plastic insulation protects 18/4 security wire jackets from the steel staple legs, preventing cuts on wood or metal framing members during installation.

How can I verify the staples are holding 12/2 speaker wire securely after installation?

After driving each staple, tug the 12/2 speaker wire gently; it should not slide or pull free from the blue plastic saddle on wood or metal surfaces.
