Compact Global Satellite Communicator

The Garmin inReach Mini 3 is a lightweight satellite radio that uses the Iridium network to provide two-way text messaging and interactive SOS alerts anywhere on the planet. It is built for hikers, explorers and off-grid workers who need reliable communication when mobile coverage ends. A colour touchscreen handles navigation and message management in a rugged IP67-rated housing. An active satellite subscription is required for all messaging and tracking functions.

Before You Order

Check that satellite communicators are legal in every country you plan to visit, because some jurisdictions regulate or prohibit their use. Verify you can obtain and maintain an active Iridium subscription before the device will send or receive any message. Confirm the IP67 water rating meets the immersion depth and duration you expect on your trips. Ensure you have a way to recharge the internal lithium battery during multi-day outings.

In Your Pack

The unit fits in a pocket or straps to a pack strap, freeing space for other essentials while keeping global messaging within reach. Its 350-hour battery life at 10-minute tracking intervals reduces the need to carry extra power banks on long treks. The scratch-resistant touchscreen works with gloves or wet fingers so you can operate it without removing layers. Pair it with compatible Garmin devices to extend mapping and sensor capabilities without adding bulk.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and what must I buy separately?

The device includes a rechargeable lithium battery and color touchscreen; an active Iridium satellite subscription is required for messaging, SOS and tracking features.

Which battery-life mode should I choose for a multi-day trip?

The internal battery delivers up to 350 hours when using 10-minute tracking intervals; shorter intervals will reduce runtime.

How does the 350-hour battery claim translate to real use?

That figure assumes 10-minute tracking; enabling more frequent updates or continuous messaging will shorten actual battery life.
