Purpose-Built Off-Road Navigator

The Garmin Tread 2 SxS Edition is an 8.1" GPS unit designed for side-by-side and off-road riders who need reliable navigation beyond paved roads. It combines an ultrabright glove-friendly touchscreen with turn-by-turn directions sourced from OpenStreetMap and U.S. Forest Service data. Trail difficulty ratings and hazard alerts help riders choose safer or more scenic routes. The bundle includes a 32GB microSD card, power accessories, and a cleaning kit for immediate use.

Weather Resistance and Processing Speed

The device carries an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance, letting it withstand mud, splashes, and harsh trail conditions. An upgraded processor drives fast map loading and quick route calculation on the 8.1" display. A 10 Hz GPS receiver updates position ten times per second for precise tracking during dynamic off-road riding. Built-in Wi-Fi enables satellite imagery downloads without a subscription, keeping the rider informed of terrain ahead.

Mounting, Connectivity and Daily Utility

The rugged mount secures the navigator through heavy vibration and rough terrain, while the glove-friendly screen remains operable with riding gear. A USB Type-A to Type-C cable and universal 12V adapter provide flexible charging options in the vehicle. The included P-Bank battery adds portable power for extended trips. Group Ride Radio allows voice and GPS sharing with companions off-grid, and PowerSwitch compatibility enables control of 12V accessories from the unit.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the 8.1" unit so it survives hard off-road vibration?

Bolt the supplied rugged mount to a solid bar or dashboard, route the 10-foot USB-C cable away from moving parts, then lock the device into the cradle until it clicks — the IP67 seal only works when fully seated.

What will need replacing after a season of dust and mud?

The microSD card slot cover and USB port flap wear first; keep the included cleaning kit handy and swap the 32GB card if write errors appear.

At what point does the screen become unreadable in direct sun?

The ultrabright panel stays visible well past midday, but sustained 12V accessory loads through PowerSwitch can dim the backlight if the vehicle charging system drops below 12 volts.
