GE 38497 LED Corncob 60W 9500lm EX39 3500K

The GE 38497 is a 60 watt LED corncob lamp that delivers 9500 lumens at a 3500K colour temperature. It fits fixtures with an EX39 mogul screw base and operates on 120 or 277 volt supplies. This lamp is intended for commercial or industrial retrofits where high-output omnidirectional light is required.

EX39 base and ballast-compatible operation

The EX39 exclusionary mogul screw base prevents installation in standard E39 sockets, so the fixture must accept an EX39 lampholder. The lamp is ballast compatible, allowing direct replacement of metal-halide or high-pressure sodium lamps without rewiring the existing ballast. Buyers whose fixtures lack an EX39 socket or who need a non-ballast-compatible driver should select a different lamp.

9500 lumen output at 60 watts

The 9500 lumen rating determines whether this lamp provides sufficient illumination for the intended space. At 60 watts it replaces higher-wattage HID lamps while reducing energy consumption. If the application demands significantly more or fewer lumens, a different wattage or model will be required.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 60 W or the 175 W equivalent version of this corncob lamp?

This listing is the 60 W model rated at 9500 lumens; the 175 W figure in the part code is the metal-halide wattage it replaces, not a separate SKU to choose.

What does the 9500 lumen rating actually deliver in a high-bay fixture?

At 3500 K the lamp produces 9500 lumens omnidirectionally, so a typical high-bay reflector will put most of that output onto the work plane with minimal spill.

How does the EX39 base affect what ballasts I can use on 120 V or 277 V?

The EX39 mogul screw fits only exclusionary sockets and the driver is ballast-compatible across 120–277 V, so you can leave a compatible HID ballast in place or wire direct to line voltage.
