Manual motor starter with 16 A thermal overload protection for single-phase 120 V or 240 V circuits
The GE CR101H is a single-pole manual motor starter rated for 16 A at up to 230 V AC/DC. It provides thermal overload protection for single-phase motors up to 1 hp at 120 V and 1 hp at 240 V. Industrial electricians and maintenance technicians use it for direct on-line motor control.
The unit has no enclosure, so it mounts inside an existing panel or cabinet where the toggle switch remains accessible. A single thermal element is required for overload function, and the 2.31 in overall depth fits standard enclosures. Wiring connects directly to the starter terminals.
Confirm the enclosure has enough depth for the 2.31 in body and clearance for the toggle actuator. Ensure a compatible thermal element is available for the motor’s full-load current. The starter is single-phase only and not suited for three-phase loads.

The 230 V AC/DC maximum rating means the starter can only be applied on circuits that do not exceed 230 volts, so it suits 120 V and 240 V single-phase supplies but not higher voltages.
The 2.31 in overall depth is the distance the unit projects behind the mounting surface, so the enclosure or panel must provide at least that much clear depth.
One thermal overload relay snaps into the starter body; the step often missed is setting the relay’s current dial to match the motor’s full-load amperes before commissioning.
