What This Kit Is

The GENERIC A-48 is a wooden robot arm kit that combines 3D puzzle assembly with basic electrical engineering. It includes motors, a PCB microcontroller board and wiring so builders can see how circuits drive mechanical motion. The kit is marketed for ages seven and up and suits children, teens and adults who enjoy hands‑on STEM projects.

Deciding Specification

The clamp and base each rotate through a maximum of 180 degrees, giving a clear limit on the arm’s range of motion. The assembled unit stands 6.88 inches tall on a 4.56 by 4.35 inch base, and the package measures 14.33 by 12.83 by 9.06 inches. Operation requires six AA batteries, which are not supplied.

Who It Suits And Who It Does Not

This kit suits learners who want a single, self‑contained project that teaches circuit basics and mechanical movement in one build. It does not suit buyers who need programmable control, sensors or expandable modules, nor those who want a ready‑to‑run device without assembly.

Questions about this item

What does the 180-degree rotation mean when the arm is assembled?

The clamp and base each turn up to 180 degrees, giving a half-circle range of motion for picking up and repositioning objects.

What power connection does the kit use and what limits it?

It runs on six AA batteries (not included); fresh cells are recommended to drive the motors and microcontroller board reliably.

How much bench space does the finished arm need to sit and turn?

The base measures 4.56 by 4.35 inches and the arm stands 6.88 inches tall, so allow a little extra clearance for the 180-degree sweep.
