Moon lamp from NASA scans

This desk lamp reproduces the lunar surface using elevation data captured by NASA missions. The shade is moulded in white plastic to show crater and mare detail when illuminated. It suits hobbyists, educators or anyone wanting a decorative light that doubles as a conversation piece. Buyers who need adjustable colour temperature or smart-home integration will not find those functions here.

Plastic shade with push-button switch

The 6.5 in diameter shade sits on a matching plastic base that contains a simple push-button switch. A corded LED module plugs directly into a 120 V outlet, so no external transformer or battery pack is required. The fixed cable length determines placement distance from the socket. Installations that demand dimming, timer functions or wireless control are not supported by this hardware.

Base, corded LED and shade included

The package supplies the shade, base and integrated corded LED as a single unit ready to operate. No separate driver, mounting hardware or software is provided. The lamp draws power from the mains cord only, so there is no rechargeable battery to maintain. Users looking for app-based lighting scenes or multi-device synchronisation will need a different product.

Questions about this item

What voltage does the corded LED need from the 120v outlet?

The lamp plugs directly into a standard 120v outlet; the corded LED runs on that mains voltage without an external transformer.

Will the 6.5 in diameter shade and 7.5 in height fit on a typical desk shelf?

The unit measures 6.5 in wide by 7.5 in tall, so it occupies a compact footprint that suits most desk or bedside surfaces.

How is the push-button switch wired into the corded LED circuit?

The inline push button on the cord interrupts the live feed; press once to light the LED moon shade, press again to cut power.
