AM3+ 970 chipset ATX motherboard

This GIGABYTE board pairs the AMD 970 northbridge with the SB950 southbridge for AM3+ processors. The ATX form factor fits standard desktop cases and provides expansion slots for graphics and add-in cards. Only the motherboard and I/O shield are supplied in the package.

Sustained SATA 6Gb/s throughput

The SB950 controller delivers native SATA 6Gb/s bandwidth that holds steady during long file transfers and heavy disk workloads. USB 3.0 ports maintain consistent data rates without throttling under continuous use. The board is tested at 100 percent function before shipping.

60 day warranty coverage

A 60 day warranty protects the purchase against defects discovered after installation. No original packaging or accessories are included beyond the I/O shield. Buyers who need a longer protection period or a full retail bundle should consider other options.

Questions about this item

How much heat and noise does the GA-970A-DS3 generate under continuous load?

The board uses the AMD 970 and SB950 chipsets without active cooling on those components, so heat output depends on the processor and case airflow you pair with it.

What essential components are included in the box so I know what I must source separately?

Only the motherboard itself and the rear I/O shield are supplied; you will need to provide a CPU, memory, power supply, storage and operating system.

Will my existing SATA drives connect directly to this motherboard?

Yes, the SB950 chipset provides native SATA 6Gb/s ports, so current SATA SSDs and hard drives attach without adapters.
