High-density 4U storage barebone

The GIGABYTE S461-3T0 is a 4U rackmount server barebone designed for storage workloads. It supports up to two 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable or Intel Xeon Scalable processors in LGA 3647 sockets. Six memory channels provide 16 DDR4 3200 DIMM slots for large capacity configurations. No CPUs, memory or drives are installed.

Suited for capacity-focused deployments

This platform suits builders who need massive hot-swap density in a single chassis. The front holds 60 x 3.5" SATA/SAS bays and the rear adds 8 x 2.5" SSD bays with hybrid U.2 and SATA/SAS support. Dual 10 Gigabit SFP+ and dual 1 Gigabit LAN ports handle high-throughput networks. Buyers who require installed processors, memory or storage out of the box should evaluate other options.

Dual-socket design drives memory and PCIe scale

Installing two processors unlocks the full 16 DIMM slots, all six memory channels and the complete set of PCIe Gen3 x16 expansion slots from CPU_1. A single-CPU configuration leaves half the memory capacity and several expansion slots unavailable. The OCP mezzanine slot reserves PCIe Gen3 x8 from CPU_0 and limits that socket to 105 W TDP when populated.
