GPS receiver for multi-constellation navigation

The GlobalSat BU-353N5 is a USB GPS navigation device that receives signals from GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Beidou and QZSS constellations. It serves drivers, fleet operators and developers who need reliable positioning data on a laptop or embedded system. The unit replaces the discontinued BU-353S4 while keeping full compatibility with existing software.

USB interface fits portable and fixed installations

The receiver draws power and transmits NMEA data over a single USB connection, so no external power supply or separate serial adapter is required. It works with Windows, Linux and Android navigation applications without additional drivers in most cases. The compact form factor leaves dashboard space free and allows easy transfer between vehicles.

Low power draw and silent operation

The device consumes minimal current from the USB port, adding negligible load to a vehicle’s electrical system or a laptop battery. With no moving parts it runs completely silently, making it suitable for quiet cabins or mobile workstations. Heat output is imperceptible during continuous operation.

Questions about this item

Will the BU-353N5 keep tracking when I drive through urban canyons or tunnels?

The BU-353N5 receives GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS signals simultaneously, so it maintains a fix with more satellites in view than single-system receivers.

Does the BU-353N5 get hot or draw enough power to drain a laptop battery during all-day logging?

It draws power directly from the USB port and runs cool enough for continuous use without active cooling or a heatsink.

What do I need besides the BU-353N5 to start navigating on my computer?

A Windows, Linux or macOS machine with a free USB-A port and mapping software that reads NMEA data from a virtual COM port.
