Xbox One Ready Storage

This 1 TB portable enclosure arrives pre-formatted for Xbox One, One S and One X consoles. It connects through a USB 3.0 port and draws power from the bus, so no separate adapter is required. The 2.5 inch drive inside spins at 5400 RPM and fits in an ultra-slim black chassis.

Sustained Transfer Behaviour

The USB 3.0 interface supports a peak rate of 5.0 Gbps, but the 5400 RPM mechanism limits real-world throughput during long copy sessions. Large game installs or bulk media moves will settle at the drive’s native sequential speed rather than the bus maximum. Performance remains consistent because the enclosure has no thermal throttling logic.

Thermals Noise and Power

Bus power keeps the total draw within the USB 3.0 specification, eliminating an external brick. The metal chassis acts as a passive heatsink, so the drive stays warm but not hot during extended use. Acoustic output is limited to the spindle and seek noise of a 2.5 inch 5400 RPM mechanism in a quiet room.

Questions about this item

How much noise or heat does the 5400 RPM drive produce when it runs all day on my Xbox One?

The 5400 RPM mechanism is bus-powered and built into a slim 2.5" chassis with no fan, so it stays quiet and only warm to the touch during extended sessions.

What do I already need to connect this enclosure to my console?

A free USB 3.0 port on the Xbox One, One S or One X; the 4 ft certified cable in the box plugs straight in with no extra power adapter.

Will the pre-formatted 1 TB drive work alongside the internal drive on my Xbox One S or One X?

Yes — the drive arrives pre-formatted for Xbox One family consoles, so the system recognises it instantly and you can install or move games between internal and external storage.
