Outdoor volume control set

The Acoustic Audio AAOVCD-G is a seven-piece set of passive dial speaker volume controls built for outdoor and whole-house audio installations. Each unit mounts in a weatherproof grey ABS housing rated for in-wall use and connects with standard speaker wire up to 14 gauge.

Suited for multi-zone installs

Installers who need independent level control for up to eight pairs of 8-ohm speakers will appreciate the adjustable shorting bars and 12-step attenuation dial with a true off position. Systems requiring active amplification, digital signal processing or wireless streaming should look at a different product class.

Handles 150 watts per channel

The low-voltage design comfortably drives 4, 8 and 16-ohm loads at 150 watts per channel across all seven zones. Impedance matching via the shorting bars protects the amplifier when multiple speaker pairs are connected, but the passive circuit cannot boost signal beyond what the source amplifier delivers.

Questions about this item

What amplifier or receiver do I need to drive these volume controls?

Any home audio receiver or amplifier with raw speaker wire outputs will work with these passive controls.

Can I keep my existing 8-ohm outdoor speakers and wire them to these controls?

Yes, the controls handle 4, 8, and 16-ohm speakers and include shorting bars to safely connect up to eight pairs of 8-ohm speakers.

How do I verify each control is attenuating correctly after installation?

Turn the dial through its 12 steps; the first position is a true off, and each subsequent click reduces the level until full volume at step 12.
