Narrative travel game

Where the Water Tastes Like Wine is a narrative adventure set in Depression-era United States. You play a traveler paying off a debt by collecting and sharing the true stories of 16 signature characters. The journey spans migrant workers, a travelling preacher, a Navajo woman forcibly relocated on the Long Walk and others across a wide range of American experience.

Story collection and retelling

The core loop revolves around gathering folk tales that bleed through the landscape and swapping them around campfires. As stories circulate they change in the telling, and characters gradually open up to reveal their real lives. You run out of new encounters once every character has shared their true self, which completes the debt.

Steam activation only

The game requires a third-party Steam account to activate and play; no other platform or DRM-free option is provided. Supported languages are English voice with English, French, German and Russian subtitles and menus. Buyers without a Steam account or who prefer offline installers cannot use this code.
