Compact coverage for daily travel

The Gorilla Grip 840316703642 is a clear travel umbrella that opens to a 42-inch canopy and folds to 11.5 inches, weighing .9 lb so it slips into a backpack, purse or carry-on. It is built for commuters and light travellers who want rain protection without bulk.

Pouch, coating and automatic frame change use

A carry pouch is included for wet storage. The 190 Pongee canopy has a water-resistant coating that sheds rain instead of absorbing it, and the one-click button opens and closes the 8 reinforced fiberglass ribs with one hand, leaving the other free for bags or a phone.

Check bag space and wind needs before ordering

The collapsed length of 11.5 inches must fit your chosen bag or pocket. The frame is tested to 23 mph gusts, so buyers expecting routine exposure to stronger winds should look elsewhere. The clear canopy offers 20 UPF UV protection but does not block visible light like opaque fabrics.

Questions about this item

Will the 190 Pongee canopy fabric need re-waterproofing after extended use?

The canopy has a water-resistant coating that helps water repel off the surface rather than soak through, and the 190 Pongee fabric is designed to be more durable than polyester for heavy rains.

At what wind speed do the 8 reinforced fiberglass ribs risk inverting?

The umbrella is built to handle everyday wind and weather up to gusts of 23 mph, with a tear-resistant canopy and 8 reinforced fiberglass ribs for structural support.

Does the automatic open-close mechanism add noticeable weight during all-day carry?

The complete umbrella weighs only 0.9 pounds and collapses to 11.5 inches, making it ultra lightweight for extended carry in a backpack or purse.
