Steam Main Air Venting

The Gorton No. 1 straight air eliminator removes trapped air from steam heating mains. It features a 3/4 inch outside diameter inlet and a 1/2 inch inside diameter outlet. The valve installs at the end of steam mains to allow air to escape so steam can fill the system quickly and evenly.

Sizing And Placement Guide

One or two units handle a short main or a main serving the warm side of a building. Two or three units are used at the end of a long main or a main running to the cold side. For larger buildings the manufacturer suggests moving up to a No. 2 air eliminator instead of adding more No. 1 units.

Steam System Interface Limits

The valve operates only on steam systems and vents air through its 1/2 inch ID outlet. It does not remove water or condensate and is not a drain trap. The fixed 3/4 inch OD by 1/2 inch ID connection sizes cannot be changed, so piping must match these dimensions exactly.
