Hollow-Body Single-Cut with Bigsby
The Gretsch G5420T Electromatic is a 6-string right-handed electric guitar built with a laminated maple body and a classic C-shaped maple neck. It features a 12-inch radius laurel fingerboard with pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays. A Bigsby vibrato tailpiece is fitted as standard.
FT-5E FilterTron Pickup Limits
The FT-5E FilterTron pickups deliver full-bodied punch, classic chime, and enhanced note definition. The hollow-body construction creates natural resonance but can produce unwanted feedback at high gain or volume levels. Trestle block bracing increases rigidity to reduce this feedback and improve sustain.
Upgrade from Solid-Body Models
This guitar replaces a standard solid-body instrument when a player needs authentic hollow-body resonance, faster attack, and vintage Gretsch styling. The jump is worth it for genres requiring airy chime and dynamic touch response. It is not for players who require high-gain silence or a thin, lightweight body.

Questions about this item
Should I choose the single-cut or a double-cut hollow body?
The G5420T is a single-cutaway model; the cutaway gives easier access to the upper frets while keeping the full hollow-body resonance.
How does the 12-inch fingerboard radius feel in practice?
A 12-inch radius on the laurel fingerboard provides a comfortable curve for both chord work and single-note runs without feeling too flat or too rounded.
What does the Bigsby tremolo add to this guitar?
The Bigsby tailpiece delivers smooth, subtle vibrato and a classic look, while the trestle block bracing helps keep tuning stable during use.
