Hook range 4/0 to 28

The Griffin Montana Mongoose is a fly-tying vise built for tiers who need secure grip on hooks from size 4/0 down to 28. It ships with a C-clamp, pedestal base, bobbin cradle, material clip, Supreme bobbin, hackle gauge and a deluxe carrying case. The package suits both travelling anglers and bench-based tyers.

360-degree true rotation

A delrin bearing block and an adjustable tension screw give smooth, resistance-controlled rotation through a full 360 degrees. A rotation lock screw fixes the head at any angle, while the cam lever locks forward or backward for extra clearance around bulky patterns.

Clamp or pedestal mounting

The included C-clamp and pedestal base let you choose permanent bench mounting or portable tabletop use without extra parts. The extension handle swaps in for a longer rotating grip. Buyers who need a rotary vise without a full accessory kit or who prefer a non-rotating head should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What hook sizes can the Montana Mongoose actually hold when I am tying flies?

The tempered steel jaws securely grip hooks from size 4/0 down to size 28.

How does the 360-degree rotation behave when I lock it versus leaving it free?

A rotation lock screw and a fine tension screw give complete resistance control, and the cam lever can be locked forward or back for extra clearance.

What mounting options come in the box so I can set it up on my bench?

Both a C-clamp and a pedestal base are included, so you can clamp to a table edge or sit it freestanding.
