Replacement Trackpad for A1398

This trackpad replaces the original input device on MacBook Pro Retina 15 inch A1398 Mid 2015 units. It includes the flex cable and matches part number 923-00541. The component is new and tested before shipping. It is intended for owners of that specific model who need a working trackpad again.

Thermals Noise and Power

The trackpad is a passive input part that draws negligible power and produces no audible noise. It adds no measurable heat to the system during normal operation. No active cooling or additional power budget is required for this replacement.

Upgrade From Worn Trackpad

This part restores cursor control when the original trackpad becomes unresponsive, erratic or physically damaged. The jump is worth it when the existing unit no longer registers clicks or gestures reliably. Buyers without laptop disassembly experience should not attempt the installation themselves.

Questions about this item

How is the A1398 trackpad with flex cable 923-00541 installed, and what step do people often get wrong?

The trackpad requires full laptop disassembly to access the mounting screws and connector; the step most often missed is disconnecting the battery before unplugging the flex cable, which can short the logic board.

What maintenance or replacement will the A1398 trackpad 923-00541 need later?

No scheduled maintenance is required; the part is replaced only if the click mechanism fails, the surface wears unevenly, or the flex cable 923-00541 develops intermittent contact.

What limit appears first on the A1398 trackpad 923-00541 under sustained use?

The click mechanism’s tactile feedback degrades before the tracking surface, leading to a mushy or inconsistent press after extended heavy clicking.
