Extreme ND filter for K-Series holders
The H&Y ND1000 is a 95 mm drop-in filter that cuts light by 10 f-stops. It fits the rear slot of the H&Y K-Series holder so composition can be locked before the near-opaque glass is inserted. Photographers shooting long exposures in bright daylight will find the density useful. The neutral transmission aims to keep colours accurate without the shifts common on very dark filters.
Practical limits of a 10-stop drop-in
At 1000× attenuation the viewfinder and autofocus become unusable once the filter is in place, so focus and framing must be set beforehand. The drop-in design only works with the matching K-Series holder; it cannot be screwed onto a lens thread or used in other filter systems. Extremely long shutter speeds may still reveal sensor noise or thermal drift that the filter itself cannot prevent. Very wide lenses can vignette when the holder and filter stack are combined.
Upgrade path from lighter ND filters
This filter replaces standard 3-stop or 6-stop ND filters when those densities are not enough to reach the desired shutter speed in full sun. The jump is worth it when creative work demands exposures of several seconds or minutes at base ISO and the photographer already owns the K-Series holder. Users who only need moderate light reduction or who lack the holder system will not benefit from the extreme density.

Questions about this item
How do I choose the right strength among the listed f-stop versions?
This filter provides a 10-stop reduction, labelled ND1000, which is the only density available in this model.
What does the 10-stop rating mean when I am shooting?
It blocks enough light to turn a bright-day exposure into a multi-second one, letting you blur water or clouds without stopping down further.
Will the 95 mm drop-in fit my K-series holder and what does the mount limit?
Yes, it slides into the rear slot of any H&Y K-series holder; the 95 mm size matches that system and the filter itself caps the light at 10 stops.
