Expandable stainless-steel steamer basket
The Hamilton Beach 1101 is a collapsible steamer basket made from food-grade stainless steel. Its 18 petal panels open like a water lily to fit pots from 5.5 inches to 9.2 inches in diameter. The basket folds to half its expanded size for compact storage. A removable 2.4-inch centre post allows safe lifting from boiling water.
Home cooks wanting flexible pot compatibility
Suits anyone who steams vegetables, seafood or chicken in different-sized saucepans or a pressure cooker. The three feet keep food above the water line and the dishwasher-safe finish simplifies cleanup. Not suited for buyers who need a fixed-size insert for a single dedicated pot or a multi-tier steamer for large-batch cooking.
Adjustable 5.5-to-9.2-inch diameter range
This single measurement decides whether the basket will sit securely in your cookware. Measure your pot’s inner diameter before purchase; the basket only works within the stated expansion limits.

Questions about this item
How do I confirm the steamer basket sits securely in my pot after expanding it?
Expand the 18 stainless-steel petals until the basket reaches 9.2 inches; the three legs on the bottom should rest firmly on the pot base and keep food above the water line.
What comes in the box and do I need any extra accessories?
The box contains the Hamilton Beach 1101 steamer basket with its removable 2.4-inch centre post; no additional parts are required for steaming.
Which size setting should I choose for a standard saucepan versus a wide stockpot?
Collapse the basket to 5.5 inches for smaller saucepans or expand it fully to 9.2 inches for wider stockpots and pressure cookers.
