Extra-Tall Electric Can Opener

The Hamilton Beach 76700 opens cans of various heights, including taller models, with an automatic shutoff that frees your hands during operation. A built-in knife sharpener keeps kitchen blades ready without a separate tool. It suits home cooks who want a single countertop appliance for both tasks.

Thermals noise and power draw

The unit runs on standard household current and operates only while cutting, so energy use is limited to the brief opening cycle. Motor sound is typical for a countertop can opener and stops automatically when the can is released. No external ventilation or special wiring is required.

Build quality and daily use

Brushed stainless steel housing resists fingerprints and wipes clean, while the detachable cutting lever rinses under the faucet for quick sanitation. Integrated cord storage at the base reduces countertop clutter when the opener is not in use. The compact footprint of 4.6 by 5.7 inches fits most cabinets.

Questions about this item

How do I install the Hamilton Beach 76700 and what step is often missed?

Place the unit on a flat surface, plug it in, then lift the cutting lever to lock it into position before placing a can — many users forget to raise the lever first.

What part will need cleaning or replacement after repeated use?

The detachable cutting lever should be removed and rinsed under the faucet regularly; the built-in knife sharpener slot may also collect metal shavings that need wiping out.

What limit appears first during continuous operation?

The automatic shutoff stops the motor once the can is fully opened, preventing overheating during back-to-back use.
