The Hammond Valve Corp 968 is a new inline swing check valve built from brass for 1-inch FNPT connections. It suits plumbing systems that require automatic back-flow prevention in horizontal or vertical runs. The valve handles water pressures up to 200 psi at 150 degrees Fahrenheit and operates down to minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit. It is not rated for steam service.

Capacity and headroom: 200 psi water rating

The valve opens with a cracking pressure between .750 and 1.000 psi, allowing flow to start with minimal head pressure. Its 200 psi rating at 150 degrees Fahrenheit provides headroom for typical residential and light-commercial cold-water lines. The brass body and seal resist corrosion in potable water applications. Steam lines exceed the published limits and are not supported.

Brass body and FNPT ends

The all-brass construction eliminates the need for separate dielectric unions when joining dissimilar metals. FNPT threads on both ends accept standard 1-inch pipe nipples or adapters without special tools. The inline swing mechanism is serviceable without removing the valve from the pipeline. No electronic components or software are included.
