2-inch Bulkhead Fitting for Tanks
This Hayward BFAS1020CFS bulkhead fitting connects pipework to curved or flat tank walls. The grey PVC body carries a 2-inch female NPT thread on the inside and a 2-inch socket on the outside. An FKM gasket seals the penetration against the tank surface.
Replaces worn tank penetrations
Swap this fitting in when an existing bulkhead cracks, leaks at the gasket, or no longer holds pressure. The upgrade is worth it if the old hardware cannot handle 150 psi at 70 Degrees F or if the service temperature exceeds the 40 to 140 Degrees F range.
Simple socket and thread assembly
Solvent-weld the socket end to the external pipe and thread the internal NPT connection into the tank fitting. The zero-bolt-hole design means no flange alignment is required. The main failure mode is over-tightening the threaded side, which can split the PVC body.

Questions about this item
What size hole does the 2" bulkhead fitting need in the tank wall?
The fitting uses a 2" inside connection and a 2" outside connection, so the tank opening must match the manufacturer's specified cut-out for a 2" bulkhead.
How do I install the FNPT threaded side and the socket side without leaks?
Wrap the 2" FNPT threads with PTFE tape, hand-tighten plus one to two turns, then solvent-weld the 2" socket end to the pipe using PVC primer and cement.
When should I replace the FKM gasket on this bulkhead fitting?
Inspect the FKM gasket each season; replace it if you see cracking, hardening, or any seepage at the tank wall, especially after exposure near the 140°F upper temperature limit.
