Small black square fan, 40 by 40 by 28 mm, four-wire PWM connector, double ball bearing

Haywards

Haywards DBTB0428B2G 40×40×28mm 12V 1A 18000RPM PWM fan

SKU CH-V2HD-K4KMS

A 40×40×28 mm 12 V PWM fan with double ball bearings that reaches 18000 RPM and moves 19.4 CFM at 54 dB

  • PWM speed control adapts cooling to demand
  • 18000 RPM maximum airflow for dense heatsinks
  • Double ball bearing rated for 70000 hours
  • 40×40×28 mm frame fits tight server bays
  • 4-pin connector supports standard motherboard headers

Compact 40 mm server fan

The Haywards DBTB0428B2G is a 40×40×28 mm axial fan designed for dense server and workstation chassis. It runs on 12 V DC, draws 1 A and spins at up to 18000 RPM with a two-ball bearing rated for 70000 hours. A four-wire PWM interface provides intelligent temperature control and speed feedback.

Check voltage and clearance

Verify that your system can supply 12 V through a standard 4-pin PWM header and that the operating range of 7.0–13.4 V matches your fan controller. The 40 mm frame and 28 mm thickness must fit the available mounting holes and surrounding component clearance. Noise reaches 54 dB at full speed, so confirm the acoustic profile suits the environment.

Replaces lower-speed 40 mm units

This fan upgrades older 40 mm coolers that deliver less airflow than the rated 19.4 CFM or lack PWM regulation. The jump is worthwhile when thermal headroom is tight and the higher RPM can be tolerated. It is not suited for builds that require near-silent operation or larger fan form factors.

Questions about this item

Does the 40×40×28 mm fan ship with mounting screws or a PWM cable, or must they be purchased separately?

The listing shows a 4-wire PWM interface and notes that a package is included, but it does not itemise screws or cables, so assume only the fan itself is supplied.

Which current rating matches the 12 V 1 A specification versus the 6 A server blower mentioned in the title?

This model is the DBTB0428B2G rated at 12 V and 1 A; the 6 A figure belongs to a different 97×97×33 mm Delta server fan referenced in the supplier title.

What airflow and noise should I expect when the 18000 RPM fan runs inside a typical case?

At full speed it delivers 19.4 CFM and produces 54 dB of radiator noise, so expect strong airflow with noticeable sound in a standard chassis.
