  • 4-wire interface enables precise speed monitoring

40 mm 12 V PWM cooling fan

This 40 mm by 40 mm by 28 mm fan runs on 12 V DC and draws up to 1 A for 12 W of power. A 4-wire PWM interface enables intelligent temperature control and speed monitoring. Dual ball bearings are rated for 70 000 hours of operation at speeds up to 18 000 RPM. The unit produces 19.4 CFM of airflow at a noise level of 54 dB.

Check voltage and connector clearance

Verify that your system provides a 12 V supply within the 7.0 V to 13.4 V operating range. Ensure a standard 4-pin PWM header is available and that the 40 mm frame fits the intended mounting location. The fan is designed for computer-case applications and carries CE certification.

Dual ball bearings and PWM control

The two ball bearings extend service life compared with sleeve alternatives while supporting the high 18 000 RPM top speed. PWM temperature control adjusts fan speed automatically based on thermal load, and the fourth wire reports actual RPM to the motherboard. A plastic frame keeps weight low for compact builds.

Questions about this item

Does the 40 mm 12 V fan arrive ready to mount or are screws and cables sold separately?

The listing states a package is included; the fan has a 4-pin PWM connector and 40×40×28 mm frame, so mounting hardware is typically supplied.

How do I decide between the 12 V and 48 V versions when both use the same 4-pin PWM interface?

Choose the 12 V model for standard PC headers with a 7.0-13.4 V operating range; the 48 V unit is intended for inverter or industrial supplies.

What does the 18000 RPM rating mean for actual airflow and noise inside a case?

At full speed the fan moves 19.4 CFM and produces 54 dB, so expect strong cooling with noticeable sound.
