SKU CH-MJ5R-F6XCS

A 40 mm 12 V cooling fan with double ball bearings, PWM control, 18000 RPM top speed, 19.4 CFM airflow and 54 dB noise

  • 12V operation powers compact cooling builds
  • 40×40×28mm frame fits tight chassis spaces

  • PWM control adjusts speed up to 18000 RPM
  • 4 CFM airflow at 54 dB noise level

Compact 40 mm 12 V blower for tight spaces

The Haywards DBTB0428B2G is a 40 mm square frame fan 28 mm thick that runs on 12 V DC through a 4-wire PWM interface. It targets builders who need directed airflow in small enclosures such as compact PC cases or AV equipment racks. Buyers who need larger frame sizes or higher static pressure for radiator stacks should look elsewhere.

Sustained load behaviour with PWM control

At full 12 V input the motor draws 1 A for 12 W and spins up to 18000 RPM ±10 % while moving 19.4 CFM of air. The 4-wire PWM interface allows intelligent temperature control so speed scales with load rather than staying at peak constantly. Operating voltage range is 7.0–13.4 V giving headroom for voltage regulation under continuous operation.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

Double ball bearings are rated for 70000 hours of service life at the specified operating range. Acoustic output reaches 54 dB at maximum speed reflecting the high rotational velocity. Power consumption remains at 12 W when running at the 12 V nominal rail. The plastic frame and impeller keep weight low for vibration-sensitive mounts.

Questions about this item

How loud is the 40 mm 12 V fan when it runs continuously at its top speed of 18000 RPM?

The manufacturer rates radiator noise at 54 dB at full speed; expect a noticeable whine during all-day operation.

What connector and voltage does the 4-wire interface require from the motherboard or controller?

It uses a standard 4-pin PWM header and operates on 12 V within a 7.0–13.4 V range, drawing up to 1 A.

Will the 40×40×28 mm frame and 4-pin PWM control work with an older 3-pin header on a legacy board?

The 4-wire plug fits a 4-pin header; on a 3-pin header it will run at full 18000 RPM without speed control.
