This Helicoil STI tap cuts internal threads sized M6x1 for screw thread inserts. The straight-flute, three-flute design suits hand operation in a workshop or maintenance setting. Plug Chamfer Limits Blind-Hole Depth

The plug chamfer requires several threads of clearance before reaching full depth, so very shallow blind holes may not engage fully. Overall length is 69 mm with a 34 mm thread length, setting the maximum reach for hand tapping. Uncoated HSS wears faster in abrasive alloys than coated alternatives. Class 5H fit matches Helicoil insert tolerances.

D3 Thread Limit Defines Fit

The D3 thread limit controls the pitch-diameter allowance that determines whether the finished hole accepts the insert correctly. Selecting a different limit would produce an oversize or undersize thread and compromise the repair. Verify the required limit against the insert specification before tapping.
