2.5 inch SATA 3.0 enclosure

This Hetai Tech enclosure houses a 2.5 inch SATA hard drive or solid-state drive inside an ABS shell. It connects to a host computer through a USB 3.0 cable included in the package. The unit supports drives up to 3TB capacity and is finished in black.

Fits 2.5 inch SATA drives only

The enclosure accepts any 2.5 inch SATA 3.0 hard disk or SSD, making it suitable for upgrading laptop storage or retrieving data from an old notebook drive. It will not work with 3.5 inch drives, M.2 form-factor drives or drives that require a different interface than SATA.

3TB maximum drive capacity

The specifications list a supported capacity ceiling of 3TB, so drives larger than that are not guaranteed to function. Buyers planning to use higher-capacity drives should verify compatibility before purchase. The USB 3.0 interface delivers up to 5Gbps transmission speed for fast file transfers.

Questions about this item

Does the enclosure only come in black, or are other colours available?

The supplier lists the enclosure in black and notes that other options may be available on request.

What does the 5 Gbps headline speed actually deliver when a SATA drive is connected?

The SATA interface inside the enclosure limits real-world throughput to the drive's own SATA rate, so the 5 Gbps USB 3.0 link will not be saturated.

Is the USB 3.0 interface backward compatible with older USB 2.0 ports?

Yes, the USB 3.0 connection falls back to 480 Mbps on USB 2.0 ports, matching the 480M figure shown in the specifications.
