This front-panel hub adds two USB 3.0 Type-A ports to a desktop by mounting in a standard 3.5-inch floppy drive bay. It is aimed at builders who want convenient front access to super-speed USB without opening the case. The unit draws power from the motherboard header and requires no external supply. It suits any system with an internal USB 3.0 header and a free 3.5-inch bay.

Requires Internal USB 3.0 20-Pin Header

The single specification that decides compatibility is the presence of a 20-pin USB 3.0 header on the motherboard. Without that header the hub cannot deliver 5 Gb/s speeds and will not function. The included cable is approximately 60 cm long, giving enough reach for most mid-tower layouts. Systems lacking the header would need a separate PCI-E add-in card to use the front ports at USB 3.0 speed.

Mounts in a 3.5-Inch Bay with Side Screws

Installation uses the four supplied screws that engage the side mounting holes of the bay. Cases that only provide bottom screw holes cannot secure this panel. The hub frees rear I/O ports by moving two USB 3.0 connections to the front, and it remains backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices. No driver installation is required on supported Windows versions from XP through 10.
