Mobile audio-jack card reader
The Hetai Tech ACR32 connects to smartphones and tablets through a 3.5 mm audio jack and operates at 13.56 MHz for contactless smart-card transactions. It is aimed at mobile professionals who need to read ISO 7816 Class A, B and C cards or magnetic-stripe media while away from a desk. A built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery powers the unit in standalone mode.
Sustained-load behaviour
When linked to a PC over USB 2.0 Full Speed the reader draws power from the host and recharges its battery, allowing continuous operation without manual charging breaks. CCID compliance and PC/SC support keep the data path stable during long sessions, while AES-128 encryption with DUKPT key management protects each transaction. The dual-interface design prevents downtime when switching between mobile and desktop environments.
Installation notes
Plug the 3.5 mm connector into the audio port and launch a compatible app; no driver installation is required on the mobile side. In USB mode the device enumerates as a standard CCID reader so most operating systems recognise it immediately. The only common issue is a muted or mis-configured microphone input that blocks the audio-jack signalling, which is resolved by adjusting the device’s audio routing settings.

Questions about this item
How much power does the Hetai Tech ACR32 draw when it runs all day on its rechargeable lithium-ion battery?
The reader is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that charges through the USB 2.0 full-speed link when connected to a PC, so it does not draw power from the mobile device during battery-powered use.
What must I already own — specific port, cable or software — to use the ACR32 with my phone?
You need a device with a 3.5 mm audio jack and an application that supports the reader's ISO 7816 Class A, B and C smart card interface.
Will the ACR32 work alongside my older ISO 7816 Class A smart cards and existing PC/SC software?
Yes, the reader supports ISO 7816 Class A, B and C cards and is CCID compliant with PC/SC and CT-API support, so it works with existing PC/SC-based applications and Class A cards.
