Purpose and Compatibility
This adapter adds USB On-The-Go support to tablets and phones with a Micro USB port. It works with devices such as the Dell Venue 8 Pro, Galaxy Tab 4, Note 10.1 and Nexus 7. Users can connect mice, keyboards, flash drives, card readers or game controllers directly to their mobile device.
Switchable Modes
A physical switch selects between Charge and OTG positions. In the Charge position the Micro USB female port powers the host device while OTG is disabled. In the OTG position the host cannot charge but two USB 2.0 female ports become active for peripherals. The Micro USB female port only powers the hub itself, not the connected phone or tablet.
Connector Layout
One male Micro USB plug connects to the host while the adapter provides one Micro USB female port and two USB 2.0 female ports. The Micro USB female port is limited to hub power and cannot charge the host device. Hard drives are not supported through this adapter.

Questions about this item
Will the Micro USB female port need replacement after frequent charge-switch toggling?
The adapter has no moving parts inside the Micro USB female port; only the external slide switch changes between charge and OTG modes, so the port itself does not wear differently from normal insertion cycles.
What stops me from running a portable hard drive continuously through the two USB 2.0 females?
The description states the adapter cannot connect a hard disk, and the Micro USB female only powers the hub itself, so sustained use with a mechanical drive will fail immediately.
Does the adapter get warm when a mouse and flash drive stay plugged in all day?
No power-draw or thermal figures are supplied; the unit is described as lightweight and portable with a simple charge/OTG switch, suggesting minimal heat during typical peripheral use.
