Connects eight U.2 NVMe drives via four internal and four external ports with PCIe 3.0 x16 bandwidth for high-sustained write performance
The HighPoint SSD7184 is a low-profile PCIe 3.0 x16 add-in card that provides eight independent U.2 NVMe channels through four internal SFF-8643 and four external SFF-8644 connectors. It supports single-disk, RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 10 modes with sustained write performance over 14,000 MB/s and total capacity beyond 120 TB. The card works with Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 or later, Linux kernel 3.10 or later and macOS 10.13 or later.
This controller replaces a four-port U.2 card or motherboard NVMe slots when you need twice the device count and hardware RAID offload for sustained write workloads such as media capture, rendering and streaming. The jump is worth it when your application can saturate a PCIe 3.0 x16 link and you require predictable throughput without host CPU overhead. It is not for builders who only need two or four drives or who rely on software RAID for light workloads.
Confirm your motherboard has a PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 x16 mechanical and electrical slot; the card will not deliver full bandwidth in an x8 slot. Plan cable routing for up to four internal SFF-8643 and four external SFF-8644 connections, using certified accessories such as 8643-8639-50, 8643-8643-0350, 8643-8643-060, OLX4-8643-061, 8644-8644-210, 8644-8644-220 or the RS6540S enclosure, all sold separately. Ensure your operating system version meets the minimum requirements listed above.

It requires a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot and uses a low-profile bracket.
Connecting the SFF-8643 internal and SFF-8644 external cables to the correct U.2 ports before loading the RAID driver.
The modular cooling solution components can be swapped if airflow drops over time.
