The HighPoint RU1488C adds eight USB Type-C ports to a workstation or server, each running at 20 Gb/s over a PCIe 3.0 x16 link. It targets users who need many simultaneous high-speed connections for external storage, cameras or data-acquisition gear. Mac systems are not supported.

Fits a full-length PCIe 3.0 x16 slot

The card occupies a single x16 slot and draws 12 V and 3.3 V from the bus with a typical load of 25.98 W. Native xHCI support means Windows 11, 10, 8.1, Windows Server 2022, 2016, 2012 and 2008 (64-bit) plus Linux kernel 3.10.0 or later recognise it without extra drivers. It frees the platform from Thunderbolt dependency while providing bootable drive support on Linux.

Eight concurrent 20 Gb/s channels

Each port delivers up to 20 Gb/s, so eight devices can transfer at full rate simultaneously provided the x16 host link is not saturated elsewhere.
