2 TB SAS hard drive

The Hitachi HUS726020ALS214 is a 2 TB hard drive built for SAS environments. It suits storage arrays and servers that require 12 Gbps connectivity. The 3.5 in form factor fits standard drive bays in compatible enclosures. This new unit carries MPN 0F22983 for clear identification.

SAS interface and 3.5 in form factor

A SAS connection provides dual-port capability for path redundancy in enterprise systems. The 3.5 in chassis mounts directly into hot-swap trays or fixed cages without adapters. Rotational speed of 7.2 K RPM balances throughput and power draw for nearline workloads. No mounting hardware or cables are included with the bare drive.

OEM drive without extras

The product ships as an OEM drive only, so no screws, brackets or software utilities are bundled. Buyers must source carrier trays and firmware tools from their platform vendor. This suits integrators who already maintain a spares pool. It does not meet the needs of users who expect a retail kit with installation accessories.

Questions about this item

What does the 12 Gbps SAS interface cap in practice?

The 12 Gbps SAS link limits sustained throughput to the drive's 7.2 K RPM mechanical speed, so real-world transfer tops out well below the interface ceiling.

What physical space does the 3.5 in form factor need to fit or mount?

It requires a standard 3.5 in drive bay with SAS backplane connectors and the usual four side-mount screw holes.

How is the drive installed, and which step do people get wrong?

Slide it into the hot-swap carrier until the SAS connector seats firmly; the common mistake is not pushing far enough for the latch to click.
