AM5 platform limits

The Ryzen 7 9800X3D drops into an AM5 socket with 8 MB of L2 cache and 96 MB of L3 cache per CPU. Two DDR5 slots are populated with 16 GB modules each, leaving zero slots free for further memory expansion. The board provides one USB 3.0 port and one USB 2.0 port alongside HD audio and microphone jacks.

Storage and power headroom

Total solid-state capacity reaches 3 TB split between a 1 TB PCIe drive and a 2 TB SATA drive. An 850 W 80 PLUS Gold power supply feeds the RTX 5070 with its 12 GB GDDR7 memory and the 5.2 GHz eight-core processor. A 360 liquid cooler handles the thermal load.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 1TB PCIe plus 2TB SATA combination or a single larger drive?

The 3TB total is split between a 1TB PCIe SSD and a 2TB SATA SSD; the PCIe portion will load the OS and key games faster while the SATA volume suits bulk storage.

What does the Ryzen 7 9800X3D 5.2GHz boost clock deliver in actual gaming?

The 8-core Zen 5 CPU with 96MB L3 cache and 5.2GHz max boost keeps frame rates high in CPU-bound titles and handles background tasks without stutter.

Does the RTX 5070 12GB GDDR7 need a special power connector or motherboard slot?

The card draws power through the 850W 80 PLUS Gold PSU and plugs into a standard PCIe x16 slot on the AM5 motherboard; no extra connectors beyond what the PSU provides.
