Versatile road-to-trail runner

The HOKA Challenger 8 is a hybrid running shoe built for runners and hikers who split time between pavement and dirt paths. Its balanced cushioning and adaptable grip suit mixed-terrain workouts rather than specialised racing or technical mountaineering. Buyers needing a dedicated track spike or heavy alpine boot will not find that focus here.

Check your fit and intended surface

Confirm that size 10.5 and the listed width of 10.08 match your usual fit, as the engineered mesh upper provides a secure but not adjustable hold. The 4 mm lugs are optimised for hard-packed trails and road; they will not replace deep mud spikes or aggressive technical soles. Ensure your typical mileage aligns with a neutral, cushioned platform rather than a stability or motion-control design.

Recycled mesh upper and updated lug pattern

The lightweight knit uses recycled yarns to reduce waste while keeping the foot cool on long efforts. A reinforced toe cap adds durability against trail debris, and the plush collar improves ankle comfort. The reworked multi-directional lugs with Durabrasion rubber extend outsole life on abrasive pavement while maintaining grip on loose dirt.
