Ultra-rugged barcode scanner

The Honeywell Granit XP 1990IXR-3SER-N is a tethered ultra-rugged scanner built for warehouse, distribution centre and manufacturing workflows. It reads 1D and PDF417 2D codes using FlexRange focus technology. The device connects via RS232 with a coiled 3-metre cable and a 5-volt DB9 female connector.

Integration with host systems

The scanner requires an available RS232 serial port on the host terminal or computer and a 5-volt power supply through the DB9 connection. Its tethered design removes the need for battery charging stations or wireless network configuration. The 3-metre coiled cable allows freedom of movement at a fixed workstation or on a forklift without managing separate power packs.

Durability and operating demands

The housing survives 10-foot drops onto concrete and passes a 7,000-cycle tumble test from 3.3 feet. A deeply recessed scan window resists scratches and impacts that typically cause failures in industrial environments. This sealing keeps dust and moisture out of the optics during normal use across loading docks, freezers and picking trucks.
