Honeywell Genesis XP 7680g presentation scanner

The Honeywell Genesis XP 7680g is a corded presentation barcode scanner built for hands-free scanning at point-of-sale stations. It reads 1D and 2D codes using an SR Focus imager with a minimum print contrast ratio of 20%. The unit connects through USB, RS-232 or Keyboard Wedge interfaces and includes a stand for countertop use.

Suited for fixed checkout lanes needing hands-free

This scanner fits retail counters where items are presented to a stationary reader and a tethered connection is acceptable. It is not for staff who must move freely around a store, scan from a distance or operate without a cable. Operations requiring wireless mobility or long-range capture should look at other form factors.

SR Focus imager field of view defines the working

The SR Focus optical system sets the near-to-mid reading distance that works best for items held close to the scanner window. If the workflow demands wide-area or extended-range capture, the fixed field of view will not meet that need. Verify the required reading distance against this specification before purchase.

Questions about this item

How do I choose between the USB, RS-232, and Keyboard Wedge interfaces on the 7680GSR-2-1-N?

Select the interface that matches your host system port; the scanner supports all three, so use USB for modern PCs, RS-232 for legacy serial connections, or Keyboard Wedge for direct keyboard-port emulation.

What does the SR Focus field of view mean for everyday scanning?

SR Focus provides a short-range reading zone optimised for items presented close to the window, giving fast 2D decode performance on labels and phone screens at typical counter distances.

Which interface caps the data rate on the Genesis XP 7680g?

USB offers the highest throughput of the three supported interfaces, while RS-232 and Keyboard Wedge operate at lower serial speeds limited by their respective legacy protocols.
