A 19-inch rackmount chassis holds sixteen 3.5-inch hot-swap drive bays with a 12Gb/s expander backplane and three 12038 ball-bearing fans
This 3U rackmount chassis holds sixteen hot-swappable 3.5-inch SATA or SAS drives in a standard 19-inch frame. It is built for cloud storage, big data or security monitoring workloads that need dense capacity in a compact rack footprint. The steel construction meets EMC design standards to limit electromagnetic interference in crowded server rooms.
The backplane option includes a 12Gb/s expander with an integrated temperature control chipset, letting all sixteen bays share fewer host connectors while monitoring drive thermals. This single specification determines whether the chassis matches a controller that supports expander-based enclosures and the desired link speed.
Three 12038L ball-bearing fans ship as standard, delivering directed airflow across the drive bays and motherboard area. The fan choice affects acoustic profile and static pressure, which matters when the chassis sits in a noise-sensitive rack row or runs high-density drives continuously.

The 12Gb/s expander backplane lets each of the 16 drive bays run at up to 12Gb/s SAS or SATA speeds, so multiple drives can transfer data simultaneously without sharing a single 6Gb/s lane.
The backplane connects to the host via Mini SAS cables; the expander aggregates all 16 bays onto those links, so total throughput is capped by the number and generation of Mini SAS ports you cable to the RAID card or HBA.
The chassis is 560mm deep and fits a standard 19" rack; it accepts motherboards up to 12" x 10.5" and requires a 2U power supply form factor.
