  • Diffuses light evenly across the entire frame
  • Centre sharpness preserved while edges soften
  • 49 mm thread fits compatible lenses directly
  • Durable glass construction for repeated professional use

49mm Diffuser Glass Filter

The HOYA 49mm Diffuser Glass Filter mounts on lenses with a 49mm thread to add a soft, dreamy look to images. It is built for portrait, fine-art and commercial photographers who want gentle diffusion across the whole frame without losing centre sharpness. The filter suits both amateur and professional creators seeking an affordable artistic tool.

Diffusion strength and creative headroom

The glass softly spreads highlights and smoothes skin tones while keeping the central subject defined. It excels at close-up portraits and product shots where a subtle glow lifts the mood. The effect is fixed by the glass design, so scenes needing variable or stronger diffusion will require a different filter type.

Thread fit and workflow impact

The 49mm thread screws directly onto compatible lenses, adding minimal bulk to the front element. No extra adapters or power are needed, leaving the lens hood and cap workflow unchanged. Photographers using lenses with other thread diameters cannot mount this filter without separate step-up or step-down rings.

Questions about this item

Will the 49mm thread fit the older lens I already own?

Yes, the filter uses a standard 49mm thread that matches any lens with the same diameter.

How can I confirm the 49mm Diffuser Glass Filter is producing the intended soft-focus effect?

Take a test portrait or fine-art shot and look for an overall dreamy glow while the centre remains sharp.

Does the package include a protective case or do I need to buy one separately?

The box contains only the 49mm Diffuser Glass Filter; a pouch or hard case must be purchased separately.
