58mm Creative FOG No1 Glass Filter
The HOYA 58mm Creative FOG No1 Glass Filter is a screw-on camera filter that veils the entire picture in a dreamlike fog effect. It adds atmosphere and mood while keeping objects sharp and contrasted, unlike other soft filters that reduce overall clarity.
Aperture-dependent fog intensity
The fog effect is adjusted by changing the lens aperture; wider openings exaggerate the veil while stopping down minimises it. Reducing the aperture too much may diminish the effect entirely, so exposure settings directly control the creative result.
Frosted slit-glass construction
A special slit glass with a frosted surface creates the fog without softening subject detail. The filter is available in 58mm thread size and can be combined with the FOG No0.5 variant for a denser atmospheric look.

Questions about this item
Should I choose the FOG No1 or the weaker FOG No0.5 filter?
The FOG No1 gives a stronger dreamlike veil; the FOG No0.5 is milder. Both keep subjects sharp while softening the overall scene, and they can be stacked for denser fog.
How does the fog effect look when I actually shoot with this 58mm filter on my lens?
The frosted slit glass veils the whole frame in a soft fog while leaving details crisp; opening the aperture strengthens the effect and stopping down reduces it.
What does the 58mm thread size mean for fitting this filter to my camera?
It screws onto any lens with a 58mm front thread; step-up or step-down rings let you use it on other diameters.
