67mm 10-Stop ND Filter for Creative Exposure Control
The HOYA PROND EX 1000 is a 67mm neutral density filter that reduces light by 10 stops for precise exposure management. It serves photographers and filmmakers who need to maintain shallow depth of field or achieve motion blur in bright conditions. The filter uses ACCU-ND technology to balance visible and infrared light transmission, preventing unpredictable colour shifts during long exposures.
Upgrade from Variable or Lower-Density ND Filters
This fixed 10-stop filter replaces variable ND filters that can introduce cross-polarisation artifacts at high densities. It also supersedes weaker ND filters when a 3.0 optical density (ND1000) is required for extreme light reduction. The jump is worth it when consistent colour accuracy and a solid 10-stop reduction are critical for the scene.
Limits of 67mm Thread and Fixed Density
The filter only fits lenses with a 67mm front thread, so it cannot be used on smaller or larger diameters without step-up or step-down rings. Its fixed 10-stop density cannot be adjusted for changing light, requiring the user to swap filters or change exposure settings instead. Infrared balance is maintained, but extremely long exposures may still reveal sensor-specific noise characteristics.

Questions about this item
What lens thread size does the 67mm PROND EX 1000 filter fit?
The filter uses a standard 67 mm front thread, so it screws directly onto any lens with a matching 67 mm filter diameter.
How do I install the filter without cross-threading the aluminum frame?
Align the filter threads with the lens threads, turn gently clockwise until you feel the first engagement, then continue rotating smoothly until snug — do not force it.
Will the ACCU-ND coating on this 10-stop filter degrade and need replacement?
The ACCU-ND coating is bonded to the optical glass and does not wear out under normal use; replacement is only needed if the glass is scratched or the frame is bent.
