HP 17 laptop Core Ultra 5 120U

This HP 17 laptop is a large-screen Windows 11 Pro notebook built for office work and study. It pairs an Intel Core Ultra 5 120U processor with 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The 17.3 inch IPS display shows Full HD resolution at 60Hz. Integrated Intel Graphics handles everyday visual tasks.

Suits desk-based users needing screen space.

The 17.3 inch chassis weighs 5.11lb and measures 14.53 by 10.21 by 0.94 inches, so it stays on a desk rather than travelling daily. Buyers who want a lightweight ultraportable or a dedicated GPU for gaming or rendering should look elsewhere. The 60Hz panel and integrated graphics limit high-refresh or heavy 3D use. Fingerprint reader and backlit keyboard support secure, comfortable long sessions.

16GB DDR4 memory is soldered

The system ships with 16GB of DDR4 SO-DIMM memory running at a rated speed of 8 GB DDR4. Only one memory slot is populated in the upgraded configuration. Confirm whether the second slot is free before planning a future capacity increase. The 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD provides fast boot and application storage out of the box.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Core Ultra 5 120U get when the 17.3" 60 Hz panel runs all day?

The 45 W power supply and 41 Wh battery suggest modest heat output; the 10-core processor reaches 5 GHz only in short bursts, so fan noise stays low during typical office workloads.

What must I already own to start using the HDMI and USB 3.2 Type-C ports?

An external display with an HDMI cable and any USB-C peripheral or hub you plan to connect; the laptop ships with Windows 11 Pro and drivers pre-installed.

Will my older DDR4 SO-DIMM modules work alongside the 16 GB soldered in this 17-inch chassis?

The system uses a single 16 GB DDR4 SO-DIMM, leaving one slot free for an identical DDR4 module if you want to expand memory later.
