HP 17 laptop Core Ultra 5 120U

This HP 17 laptop runs on an Intel Core Ultra 5 120U processor with ten cores and a 5 GHz turbo frequency. It includes 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The 17.3 inch IPS display shows 1920 x 1080 resolution at 60 Hz. Windows 11 Home 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Home and office users needing a large screen

The 17.3 inch Full HD panel suits document work, web browsing and video calls. Integrated Intel Graphics handles everyday tasks but not modern 3D titles or GPU-accelerated rendering. Buyers who want discrete graphics for gaming or creative workloads should look elsewhere. The 8GB soldered DDR4 limit also rules out memory-heavy workflows.

10-core Core Ultra 5 120U at 5 GHz turbo

The processor delivers ten cores with two performance cores and twelve threads, backed by 12 MB cache. This configuration sets the ceiling for multitasking and single-thread speed in this chassis. If your workload demands higher sustained clocks or more cores, this CPU will be the limiting factor.

Questions about this item

Does the HP 17 with Core Ultra 5 120U ship with a charger and are any cables or peripherals sold separately?

The box contains the laptop, a 45 W power supply and standard documentation. No optical drive is fitted, so external media or additional cables must be purchased separately if required.

Should I pick the 8 GB DDR4 version or look for a higher-capacity memory option for this model?

This unit comes with 8 GB DDR4 SO-DIMM installed. The processor supports up to 12 threads, so extra memory helps multitasking, but the listed configuration is fixed at 8 GB.

What does the 5 GHz turbo figure mean when the 10-core Core Ultra 5 120U is running everyday workloads?

The 5 GHz turbo is the peak single-core speed. Sustained clocks depend on the 41 Wh battery, 45 W adapter and thermal design, so typical workloads run below the maximum frequency.
